LIZ

Here comes a pop star America.  Trap infused pop glory that I could absolutely hear on the radio.  That's LIZ for you.  It's like Hilary Duff meets R Kelly meets Bro Safari.  Hope to hear more from LIZ on her new Mad Decent deal.

Also don't forget to snag your tickets today for Mad Decent's block party to kick off the school year August 31st.  Zouk's gonna be poppin like nothing you've seen.

The XX - Together (Maxx Baer Edit)

Aside from ballin uncontrollably, Jay Gatsby sported one of the best soundtracks this season of summer blockbusters is going to offer.  That being said, The Great Gatsby laid the foundation for a fantastic array of remixes that have begun to come our way.  Maxx Baer just hit me with a preview to his new remix from the XX's original song, "Together" for the movie.  Today I am happy to pass this excellent rendition along to you, and I think it actually tops the original.
(skip to around 1:05 for that good good)

Gordon City - Freeze

Gordon City, front-liner for the UK musical movement known as "Garage" just dropped another deep, rumbling bass-bomb.  This is not going to be up everyone's alley, but you music pioneers out there will appreciate it.  The UK influences American pop more than most people realize, so look for "garage" influence in the future.  For now, find some headphones or decent speakers and let loose the newest the United Kingdoms have to offer.

Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike @ Tomorrowland (AKA The Best Set Ever) + KASKADE Tour

With EDM music what I've started to do is just listen to full sets, whether its podcasts, sets from festivals or whatever.  A couple months back I came across this one and have concluded its the sickest set invented by man.  Amazing set more filled with dance/club bangers.  These guys are amazing producers and performers but not a lot of people know about them.

Also, big news: Kaskade recently revealed he is going to do a mini tour for his new song 'Atmosphere' It'll take place in Miami, LA, NYC, and Chicago (which seems to be a growing EDM scene) Pre Sale tickets are June 5th regular June 7th.  Hopefully this can fill the void Kaskade is leaving by not going to EDC this year.  Also, Some of us were fortunate enough to go to the filming of his music video for 'Atmosphere' up in LA yesterday. Dope.

The Neighbourhood - West Coast

Get familiar with The Neighbourhood, these guys have the perfect chill vibe for any relaxing day this summer.

Sander Van Doorn - Neon

Sander is a legend.

Disclosure – Settle (Full Album Stream)

J. Cole – N***az Know

Capital Cities featuring AndrĂ© 3000 – Farrah Fawcett Hair

EDC Las Vegas

So the Electric Daisy Carnival Tour is in full swing with NYC and Chicago already over and London in July but the real event is only three weeks away: EDC Las Vegas.  They just put out the full trailer and I easily went three-quarters chub.  In preparation for EDC I will be posted a lot about people to look for, sets not to miss, some tricks around EDC and will give you guys a full recap of the best/worst sets and performances... assuming I can remember it all.

Also be sure to look out for my new thread: Saturday School.  Every saturday I'm gonna drop a little EDM knowledge and introduce a couple new styles that some people may not know about

Ginuwine – Pony (Viceroy “Jet Life” Remix)

MNEK - Waiting For Tonight (Jennifer Lopez Cover)

MNEK is an 18 year old singer/songwriter/producer from the UK and dropped this real nice rendition of J-Lo's hit single. Loving the revamped beat, plus he apparently recorded this while getting drunk in the morning, aptly calling it a "Hennifer Lopez" cover, check it out.

Hodgy Beats – Years

Sensation U.S.

I couldn't wait till the morning to post this. Big news: Sensation is doing a tour in the United States.  If your not an electro junkie and don't know what it is it's essentially the sickest, biggest white party ever. Sensations have been ALL over the world and they are finally adding to the US tour with Vegas, San Francisco, Miami and NYC (where it has already been), all this fall.  Straight up no reason to wait for a lineup cause its always dope.  This is one of the most notable trance/electro festivals in the world. Take Mount Olympus at Zook in Dallas and multiply it by a couple thousand and add some insane DJ's.

Flosstradamus - Lana's Theme (Free Drinkz Re-Work)

Trapped out.

Paul Oakenfold & Project 46 - Higher

Amazing.

Boys Noize - Go Hard

De La Soul "Get Away" Feat. The Spirit Of Wu Tang

Stafford Brothers - Hello (Feat Christina Milian & Lil Wayne)

So Birdman signed his first EDM artist to YMCMB and I have to say, I'm really digging the sound. This song has been #1 in the Stafford Brothers homeland of Australia for quite a while and it should make a huge splash in the US this summer, check it out.

Joey Bada$$ – Word Is Bond (Produced by Statik Selektah)

Sir Michael Rocks featuring Mac Miller – Madness

Robert Delong- Global Concepts

So I probably shouldn't be using this as my first post because I don't know if I will ever be able to top this find.  This guy, Robert Delong is one of the most talented up and comings right now in the electro scene.  His biggest gig so far was during the day at Coachella so not many people really know about him but he's insane.  He writes code on his computer and uses things like XboX controllers, Wii remotes, Joysticks etc. to play his music.  All original sounds, not many people in the game are talented enough to do what he does. Watch the video and look for this kid in the near future, you won't be disappointed.

Or the Shorter (less cool) version:

Major Lazer - Bubble Butt (feat. Bruno Mars, 2 Chainz, Tyga & Mystic) - Directed by Eric Wareheim

Major Lazer gold from our buddy Diplo and friends.  This the kinda beat all the bad bitches get down to.  Also the video is hilarious.  Take a gander.

Foxes - Youth (Adventure Club Remix)

A little womp for your Memorial Day.

Baggi Begovic - Compromise

With the big summer house festivals coming up soon, DJ's are dropping all their new material just in time and Baggi Begovic absolutely destroyed this track, some incredible synths and vocals.

Childish Gambino - FDB (Remix)

One Republic - If I Lose Myself (DJ Swoon Festival Trap Remix)

We have been lacking lately with the posts, and for that I apologize.  Do not fret however.  DJ Swoon came in the clutch with a song well worth posting.  Starts off soft, but when it drops... it drops hard.  Hope everyone's summers are as poppin as mine.  Playing this obnoxiously loud, windows down, driving up Hampton beach and getting pulled over for disturbing the peace.  Successful day.  Hampton's gotta know I'm here to get down... and shamelessly hit on girls who come over to tell me to turn my music down.

Kaskade & Deadmau5 - Move For Me (GTA Remix)

It sounds pretty similar to the original, but its also just that much better.  Trap and Trance hybrid = awesome.  Not sure who GTA is... but now I want to find out.

Wednesday, May 22, 2013

Uncover - Zara Larsson (Richello Remix)

Never heard of Richello before but I'm definitely going to be following his music in the future, progressive house at its best.

Lil Dicky

Lil Dicky has been stirring up the internet lately in the comedy rap scene, and rightfully so.  This guy is hilarious.  Give these a watch.

(I laughed my ass off at this ^)

Not to mention... Dude can fuckin FLOW.

Molly. A Double Dose.

Due to Tyga and Wiz Khalifa's new song, many young people have been searching for this elusive molly character. Alas, they did not find her. They did, however, come across an odd white powder that made them want to dance. So dance they did. Check out Molly (the song), but also check out the original by Cedric Gervais which was a club banger long before Tyga hit the scene. Enjoy.

Hardwell & Dyro - Never Say Goodbye (feat. Bright Lights)

Hardwell is absolutely on fire right now, every track he's put out in the past few months have been massive and this one is no different.

The Lonely Island - DIAPER MONEY #WackWednesdays

Everything The Lonely Island does makes me happy.  Happy Comedy Week from Youtube.

Young Scooter - I Wonder (Prod. by Zaytoven)

Young Scooter may be the first rapper to actually drop a song from prison.  No joke, this dude recorded a song through the pay phone in his jail cell.  I may not be the best spokesman for hood-rat shit... But that is some Hood. Rat. Shit.

Limit To Your Love

I love it when this happens.  Benny Benassi dropped this banger live at Electric Zoo two summers ago when I was there, and I just happened to stumble across the sample that he used.  Pretty awesome stuff.

Here's the live Mix from EZOO 2011

Here's the original.

Reflex "Body So Tight" ft. Childish Gambino

Diplo & GTA- Boy Oh Boy

What better way to promote the Mad Decent Block Party than Mr. Mad Decent himself? Enjoy this Diplo banger and get excited.

TWRK X 4KORNERS - Work

Any song that samples David Banner is good with me.

Mad Decent Block Party 2013

Blonde Velvet here, I’ll be writing about the hottest upcoming concerts and festivals in the Dallas area this summer and I wanted to start out with one that I know I will be attending. The Mad Decent Block Party 2013 features some of my favorite artists including: Diplo, Flosstradamus, Dillon Francis, Zedds Dead and Baauer. I know personally that these guys put on phenomenal sets and if you’re into Trap, Dubstep, EDM, or you just want to rage this summer you better go check it out. The concert is outside of Zouk, which we all know and love (or hate), but regardless of your opinion of the nightclub it is centrally located and well known in the area. Shouldn't be a tough sell. The full lineup is linked below, and I’ll be posting some of my favorite songs from these guys to get you pumped. Get your tickets before the price goes up, and I’ll see you August 31st!

DARTY - Nick Luebke

I found Nick Luebke by complete accident but I can't say I'm disappointed because all of his music is incredibly dope. He can sing and rap, and Darty will definitely be making my summer playlist. Also check out his new EP "The Search" if you like what you hear.

Elliot Berger - Diamond Sky (feat. Laura Brehm)

Personally I'm not a big dubstep guy, but this has that softer, melodic sound that I can listen to, check it out.

FKI X DJ SLIINK – [FLIGHT] AMDAM IV

Disclosure featuring Eliza Doolittle – You & Me (Baauer Remix)

Daft Punk Cockatoo

This bird may be as excited for the new Daft Punk album as I am...

Wiz Khalifa & Curren$y – For Her (Cookin’ Soul Jetmix)

Mikky Ekko – Disappear

Ryan Hemsworth – Perfectly

Andrea – Your Morning

A$AP Ferg - “Work Remix” ft. A$AP Rocky, French Montana, SchoolBoy Q & Trinidad James

Naughty Boy - La La La (feat. Sam Smith)

Can't get enough of Sam Smith's voice, amazing.

Savoy and Bright Lights - I Dare You (Original Mix)

Electro monster SAVOY is back with another single, and he doesn't dissapoint.  This is a HUGE banger that I'm sure will see some face time across the 23,403,252 Summer music festivals that have been popping up all over our great country.  Happy vacations everyone.  Rage responsibly.

Cashmere Cat Mix for Diplo & Friends

Flux Pavilion - Do Or Die (feat. Childish Gambino)

If you love Childish Gambino and Flux Pavilion, I have the song for you.  Perfect blend of Gambino vocals and electro synths.

Shout out to Thomas Carruthers

Sammy Adams - LA Story (feat. Mike Posner)

Two of my favorite up and coming artists collab to create a song that will be getting some serious run this summer. Keep grinding out those finals, summer's almost here.

Friday, May 10, 2013

Lana Del Rey – Born to Die (3.A.M. Remix)

DJ Fresh and Diplo - Earthquake

Is there anything Diplo touches that doesn't turn to gold? DJ Fresh and Mad Decent label head, Diplo, come together for a truely massive festival rocker.  This new sub-genre of Trap known apropriately as "Festival Trap" is getting progressivly bigger, and it kind of speaks for itself.  Just picture this on a larger than life set, surounded by thousands of candy-pastel rave sloots and sweaty Jersey-shore wannabes.  Magical.

Waka Flocka – DuFlocka Rant Halftime Show (Mixtape)

Bassnectar - Freestyle Mixtape

Bump this in the car on the way home/all summer.  Bassnectar was the first electronic artist I was introduced to, and he continues to drop bass bombs on the reg...

Shout out to Taylor Stebbins

Coyote Kisses EP

Good chill study music.

Thursday, May 9, 2013

"Clarity" Zedd ft. Foxes (Jason Chen Acoustic)

You go Jason Chen.  No but actually this is dope.

Mac Miller - Watching Movies (Official Audio)

Miguel - Adorn (Hi-Deaf + Teenage Jesus Remix)

Normally I wouldn't want to hear a remix to a song like Adorn because it's perfect as is, but this progressive house spin gives the track an entirely new and dope element.

Deadly Combination - Hathbanger ( Big L & Tupac Remix) Throwback Thursday

Gent & Jawns - COCO

Literally just tell me when you get sick of all this filthyness that I keep posting... And I'll probably stop for a couple of hours... And then relapse.  Sorry I'm not sorry.  #trapfordays

2 Chainz featuring Drake - No Lie (Cashmere Cat Edit)

Heavy Trap Banger. Thanks Cashmere Cat.  You're the best.

Shout out to Tanner Flyckt

Konshens - Gal a Bubble (Major Lazer x Bro Safari x ETC!ETC! Remix)

What an epic trio of MoombahTrap madness.  Led by the king, Major Lazer, Bro Safari and ETC!ETC come in with their own flavor, creating a jungle banger that you have to hear.  This song just screams summer/spring break bootytwerk/wet t-shirt contest.  Let loose a little before your exams.

Dada Life – Boing Clash Boom (Major Lazer Remix)

Wednesday, May 8, 2013

John Mayer - In Your Atmosphere (Live at Nokia Theater)

If you don't like John Mayer you're a communist as far as I'm concerned, the guy is an absolute legend. This is a live video of one of his unreleased songs, pretty amazing stuff.

I'mTRAPPEDInTheMix (feat. Chief Keef)- Jared Agnew

quick little trap mix nice and to the point from Jared Agnew.

Ben Folds - Bitches Ain't Shit

White boy anthem.

Ed Sheeran-Give Me Love (Xilent Remix)

Ed Sheeran has some of the most passionate and beautiful songs i've heard, so it follows that adding a heavy drop and some electronic accents will create a beautiful hybrid that maintains the soft passion of the lyrics, while adding another dimension that appeals to EDM crowd. Or maybe that logic doesn't follow, but this song is great. Give it a listen, and if you want my advice, I would throw it on to your "frisky" playlist. Just a thought.

Jake Troth - Material Things

If SMU ever needed an anthem this is it.

The Temper Trap - Trembling Hands (Benny Benassi Remix)

Temper Trap might be my favorite alternative/pop band out there right now, the lead singer has one of the most incredible voices I've ever heard and Benassi does an amazing job showcasing his pipes while still putting a great house spin on the track.

Gordon City - Cycles

Gordon City is an up and comer in an emerging genre known in the UK as "Garage." Now, it may seem slightly lacking, without all the crazy synths and drops that we've grown to love in Bass music, but you have to admit it has a certain groove to it. Thats really the only way I can describe it.  Not to mention, House, Elecro, and Dubstep, we're initially frowned upon when they first emerged from the UK.  Keep an eye out for Gordon City as this genre evolves.

Suit & Tie (Acoustic Cover) - Tori Kelly

Some of the most impressive vocal control from my girl Tori Kelly.  If this doesn't make your jaw drop, it will at least brighten your exam week.  Hope everyone is crushing it btw.

Kendrick Lamar - Swimming Pools - George Barnett cover

Win. So aparently this guy can play every instrument ever.

Tuesday, May 7, 2013

Ellie Goulding - Only You (Special Features Remix)

My love for Ellie Goulding is no secret. 1. We've been dating for like three years now. 2. She's the most attractive person on the planet. 3. Best female singer in history. If you disagree with any of that hurt yourself.

Lana Del Rey – Young and Beautiful (Panic City Remix)

Sweater Beats – Make a Move (Branchez Remix)

Logic – Young Sinatra: Welcome to Forever (Mixtape)

Helicopter Showdown-The Terror

This song is filthy. Dark and filthy. It takes a certain type of person to appreciate dubstep this heavy, but if finals are making you angry, this song can really get the blood pumping and the fists flying. Go beat the shit out of those finals.

YONAS - Feel The Love

YONAS has been putting out solid music for quite a while now but this is absolutely his best song to date. The sample blends perfectly with his flow and definitely has summer jam written all over it.

Rudimental (Feat. MNEK and Sinead Harnett) - Baby

Rudimental just dropped their new album in the UK this week and this is one of my favorite new tracks off the album. Sinead Harnett in the video is just an added bonus..

Bro Safari - Scumbag (Biggie - Suicidal Thoughts Remix)

Bro Safari is one of my all time favs.  Always killin it in the Trap scene.

Shout out to Taylor Stebbins

Chance the Rapper x Nosaj Thing’s - Paranoia

Monday, May 6, 2013

Lana Del Ray - Young & Beautiful (MYNDSET Remix)

Great remix of a great song. Good job Myndset.

2 Chainz & Wiz Khalifa "We Own It (Fast & Furious)

Wiz and 2 Chainz kill it on top of a sick beat.

Daft Punk - One More Time (Candyland OG Remix)

Daft Punk Trapified.  Money.

Shout out to Blake Shannon.

Chief Keef - Love Sosa (RL Grime Remix)

RL Grime kills it again.

Hardwell & GTA - Animals

Pure awesome.

Purity Ring - Grammy (Soulja Boy Cover)

I like like this song. If we were in third grade and on the play ground I'd rub dirt in this song's hair so my friends wouldn't thing I liked it, but really I do. Adderal made me write that. Help.

Drumsound & Bassline Smith 'One In a Million' (Wideboys Remix)

Enjoy.

Hurricane - MS MR (CHVRCHES Remix)

CHVRCHES has been throwing out some fire remixes lately and this is no exception. Female vocals have a little Elle Goulding to them over the uplifting beat, perfect feel good for finals.

Deadmau5 - Satellite (Preview)

The Mau5 is back, and he's got a fresh new sound for us.  This track is unfinished, but it already sounds dope a.f.  Vocals from his girlfriend, and a new laid back, trap inspired sound, this song is is a must hear for Mau5-heads everywhere.

Sunday, May 5, 2013

We Were Just Kids - Radical Something

Hucci - The Leaves Are Brown

Time to hop on that Hucci train.  This 17 year old broducer from the UK is a serious up and comer.  Look out for him.

Gabrielle Aplin – Panic Cord (Hucci Remix)

Study With Frank.

Frank Ocean is the mainstay of every study playlist I've made, here's a few of the songs that get some serious run on my Itunes during finals week.

Real - Gorgon City

I've never heard of Gorgon City before but this song is too dope not to post. Amazing bass line, smooth vocals, don't miss it.

Timeflies Tuesday - Under The Sea

Timeflies killin it per usual.

Avicii ft Aloe Blacc - Wake Me Up

I dont know how to describe in words how awesome this song is so I googled "What to say when you dont know what to say". The top result was "You had to be there".
This song can be found on Avicci's 2013 Promo Mix. You had to be there.

Wednesday, May 1, 2013

Big Sean-100 Keys ft. Rick Ross & Pusha T

Get the pun?

Things Can Only Get Better - Cedric Gervais & Howard Jones

Huge progressive house song, definitely a summer anthem.

Enoptix

You really have to be a fan of real grungy, old-school Dubstep if you're going to stomach Enoptix.  That being said, I know you wobble-heads are out there... So this one's for you.  Epic remix of an otherwise sloppy banger from Getter, and also a peak at Enoptix recent EP.

Bingo Players - Cry (Kids at the Bar Bootleg) (Kennedy Jones Trap Remix)

Despite the rambling title of remixed remixes, this track does the iconic "Cry" justice.  Epic Trap banger from... well im not really sure who its by anymore.  Who really cares though.  Well done.

Robin Thicke featuring 2 Chainz & Kendrick Lamar – Give It To You (Produced by will.i.am) (Radio Rip)

James Blake – Retrograde (Studio Performance)

Chance The Rapper – Acid Rap (Mixtape)

Latch - Disclosure

Disclosure is currently one of the biggest bands in the UK and this song shows why, amazing vocals and an incredibly laid-back beat, don't miss out on this one.
